Subsequent to CMTO’s guidance strongly recommending all non-essential massage therapy treatments, Ontario’s Chief Medical Officer of Health issued a formal directive to healthcare providers pursuant to the Health Protection and Promotion Act ordering that all non-essential and elective services be ceased or reduced to minimal levels until further notice, with allowable exceptions for time sensitive circumstances to avert or avoid negative patient outcomes or situations that would have a direct impact on the safety of clients.
The CMTO has also provided a list of frequently asked questions which include further clarification on the meaning of essential , as well as information about "telepractice" and clarification about the powers of the CMTO.
