Letter to the CMTO Regarding Proposed New Standards

The RMTAO Board of Directors recently delivered a letter to the CMTO regarding the proposed new Standards for Maintain Professional Boundaries Preventing Sexual Abuse. The RMTAO Board of Directors had several concerns with the proposed standards, which are outlined in the letter.

The Government of Ontario recently passed Bill 87, the Protecting Patients Act, 2017 with the goal of eradicating sexual abuse across all regulated health professions in Ontario, and these new standards were developed as a result. The RMTAO and the CMTO communicate and work together frequently for the betterment of the massage therapy profession, and we believe that common ground will be reached that is fair and beneficial to the profession.
