Gabrielle's Story

Gabrielle tried a lot of different things for her chronic hip pain, which was affecting her back, before she found massage therapy.

Massage therapy has been beneficial for her right away, and after every treatment she feels an immediate reduction in her pain and an improvement in her posture. She is also grateful for the longer-term benefits she gets from regular massage therapy treatments.

“I can do much more physically,” Gabrielle said. “I feel like it is the one thing I do solely for myself, and it improves my quality of life on a massive scale.”

Gabrielle intends to continue with her regular massage therapy treatments as long as possible. She feels that it helps her manage her pain and maintain much more mobility. She feels that if she could no longer access massage therapy care, she would begin to experience the difficulties she experienced before once again.

“Before my regular massage appointments, I often had trouble walking and would sometimes lose my balance,” Gabrielle said.

I feel like it is the one thing I do solely for myself, and it improves my quality of life on a massive scale.Although Gabrielle had not tried massage therapy treatment until she was experiencing chronic hip pain for a few years, she recognizes the benefits of massage therapy for wide groups of people. She would recommend massage therapy to anyone.

“I cannot imagine anyone not loving massage therapy,” Gabrielle said. “Even if they didn't suffer from a chronic condition or ongoing pain the relaxation and stress reducing benefits speak for themselves.”

There are many things Gabrielle can now do that she could not do before starting massage therapy treatment. She can bend to pick things up much easier, she is pain free most days, she can walk longer distances and have more flexibility, and she feels like she can take deeper breaths. These benefits helped her understand the importance of massage therapy in health care.

“It is of vital importance,” Gabrielle said. “If I couldn't continue with massage treatments, I actually don't know what I would do-- I do know my quality of life would suffer.”

Although Gabrielle has moved away from where her regular massage therapist practices, she still drives two and a half hours every month to see them, never missing an appointment, because of the significant positive impact massage therapy has in her life. In addition to the benefits she has already experienced from massage therapy, she knows that it can have a significant role to play in her health in the future.

“I hope continued regular massage therapy helps to keep me mobile and healthy as I age,” Gabrielle said.
