NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the Annual General Meeting of the Registered Massage Therapists' Association of Ontario will take place on Sunday, February 2, 2025 at 9:00am at the Hilton Toronto Airport Hotel & Suites, located at 5875 Airport Road, Mississauga, Ontario.
At the Annual General Meeting, members and stakeholders will receive important information about the activities of the RMTAO over the past year.
The following matters constitute the agenda:
- Call to Order, Welcome and Introductions
- Approval of the Minutes of the Annual General Meeting held on January 28, 2024 Download the 2024 AGM Draft Minutes
- Board Chair's Report on behalf of the Board of Directors
- Executive Director's Report on Operations
- Auditor's Report & Audited Financial Statements for the Fiscal Year ending September 30, 2024
- Appointment of the Auditor
- Report on the Election of Directors
- Presentation of RMTAO Awards
- Such other business as may properly come before the meeting.

Important Notes
Vote by Proxy
If you are unable to attend the Annual General Meeting in person at the date and time stated above, please complete the Proxy Form that is available for download below and return it to the RMTAO by mail, fax or other electronic version prior to 4:00 p.m. Friday, January 17, 2025. In order for the AGM to proceed, 1% of the members must be present in person/virtually or by proxy, which means a large number of proxies will be required.
Live Stream the Event
The RMTAO will be live-streaming the Annual General Meeting for those unable to attend in person. Please note that those streaming the meeting will not be able to vote but are welcome to submit a proxy form. The link to stream the meeting will be provided prior to the meeting, and you must register in advance.
Awards Presentation
During the AGM, we will also be presenting the annual RMTAO awards to RMTs who have made outstanding contributions to the massage therapy profession and to the Association. This is a great opportunity to honour and thank your peers for their contributions.
Special Presentation by Dr. Amanda Baskwill
Empowering Change: The Role of Leadership in Massage Therapy's Future
Immediately following the Annual General Meeting, Dr. Amanda Baskwill will be making a presentation titled Empowering Change: The Role of Leadership in Massage Therapy's Future. In this presentation, Dr. Amanda Baskwill draws from her experiences as an educator, practitioner, and advocate to inspire massage therapists to become leaders and agents for change in their profession and beyond.

Dr. Amanda Baskwill is an educator, administrator, researcher, and advocate with a PhD in Health Research Methodology from McMaster University. Amanda holds the position of Senior Vice President, Academic at Loyalist College where she champions health and wellness, social innovation, inter-professional education, and academic integrity. She has been a registered massage therapist since 2003.
Amanda is also the Executive Editor and Editor-in-Chief for the International Journal of Therapeutic Massage and Bodywork. Her research interests include innovative teaching and learning strategies in healthcare education, the professional identity of healthcare providers, the application of evidence-informed practice, and the safety and effectiveness of massage therapy in the treatment of various conditions.
