Description:
Massage therapists frequently support clients experiencing illness, loss, caregiving responsibilities,
chronic pain, and significant life transitions. While this work can be deeply rewarding, repeated
exposure to client suffering and emotional stressors can contribute to cumulative stress,
compassion fatigue, and burnout.
Facilitated by a Certified Thanatologist, this evidence-informed webinar explores the relationship
between grief, compassion fatigue, and professional well-being in massage therapy practice.
Participants will gain an understanding of how grief and loss—both personal and professional—can
affect emotional regulation, therapeutic presence, and career sustainability.
The webinar presents practical, somatic-informed self-care strategies to support nervous system
regulation, resilience, and emotional well-being. Attendees will leave with tools to integrate into
daily practice to help maintain professional effectiveness while supporting their health and wellbeing.
Learning Outcomes:
Upon completion of this webinar, participants will be able to:
1. Describe the relationship between grief, compassion fatigue, and burnout in massage
therapy practice.
2. Recognize common signs and symptoms of compassion fatigue and cumulative stress.
3. Apply basic somatic and nervous system regulation strategies to support personal well being and professional resilience.
4. Identify practical self-care and boundary-setting approaches that contribute to long-term
career sustainability.
