Early Bird, Headaches & Migraines: TMD Treatment as a Mitigating Modality  Register $65.00 (Regular $75.00)

Headache and migraine presentations are often multifactorial, with temporomandibular dysfunction (TMD), cervical tension, postural strain, parafunctional habits, and nervous system sensitization frequently contributing to symptom persistence. Through real patient cases, this session examines how TMD assessment and treatment may serve as one component of a broader symptom-management strategy. Participants will explore clinical reasoning surrounding differential considerations, treatment adaptation, patient communication, and the evolving nature of care in patients presenting with headaches, migraines, and jaw-related dysfunction.

Key Learning Outcomes

  • Understand the relationship between TMD, cervical dysfunction, and headache presentations
  • Recognize common musculoskeletal contributors associated with headache and migraine patients
  • Identify assessment findings that may support a TMD contribution to headache symptoms
  • Explore clinical decision-making and treatment adaptation in complex or flare-prone patients
  • Discuss the role of patient education, pacing, and expectation management in chronic pain presentations
  • Recognize red flags and situations requiring interdisciplinary referral or further medical investigation
