This moment in time is fraught with uncertainty: political, economic, and ultimately personal. To live in this environment takes a physical and mental toll for clients and practitioners alike. Yet, massage therapists are called upon to be role models for good self-care, and to share their energy and focus for the betterment of their clients. It’s a lot to ask.

In this tender 90-minute discussion we will cover principles and health-related consequences of stress related to the political and cultural environment. We will put special focus on what this means for our clients, but also on what this means for practitioner well-being and longevity. Support for healthy self-care, in whatever form that takes, will be emphasized.

Learning Outcomes
Participants will be able to…
  • Describe the mental, emotional, and physical consequences of living in constant but abstract stress
  • Describe the challenges of working with clients who are doing the same
  • Review the most effective types of boundaries to be both compassionate and objective
  • Plan strategies for healthy longevity in the profession
