This one day practical in-person course will focus on the therapist’s ability to assess and treat sacroiliac joint stiffness. The therapist will learn the biomechanics of the region with particular emphasis on how to assess this clinically. Techniques taught will include joint movement assessment, manual mobilizations and muscle energy techniques. Also learn evidence-based pain provocation tests which will help you rule in or out the sacroiliac joint as the source of pain. This course is designed to challenge the therapist’s clinical reasoning skills, and the knowledge gained will be easy to apply to clinical practice right away.

Learning Goals:

  • Where does the sacroiliac joint refer to and what are common aggravating factors?
  • How do you rule in or out the sacroiliac joint as a source of pain?
  • How do you assess mobility of the sacroiliac joint? Is this even possible?
  • How do you distract the sacroiliac joint?
  • How can you use muscles to treat sacroiliac joint stiffness or fixations?
